January is the traditional time we start thinking about doing something new or different to our homes. If you are thinking about something new, why not try something old? A great place to get inspiration is Richmond’s oldest architectural salvage supplier, Caravati’s. Located a few minutes from Shockoe Bottom at 104 East 2nd Street, their 42,000 square-foot warehouse is filled with everything ranging from decorative hardware and building supplies, stained glass and light fixtures. It’s a great place to spend some time whether you’re renovating a house, looking for a decorative piece, or just want to stroll back in time.
Now is a good time to visit, they plan to sell their current building and move to a smaller facility this year. Open 8:30-5:00, closed on Sunday.
