April Kickoff

April Kickoff

Looking for a great excuse to get outside? The Richmond Kickers kick off their 29th season on April 24th at City Stadium, and tickets go on sale March 31st. The team is looking great after a third-place finish in USL League One last year.

I asked Camp Peery, the extremely talented, totally charming, and devastatingly handsome (in my completely unbiased opinion) COO of the Kickers, what new with the team?  “While hosting professional soccer games is what we’re known for, our goal is to be much more than just a soccer club – One of our current focuses is to elevate City Stadium into a vibrant community hub,” added Peery, “with daily events that provide something for everyone in RVA.”

Any plans to expand? “From farmer’s markets, and dog-friendly happy hours to concerts and fundraising events, we’re eager to be a supportive community partner for any and everyone,” said Peery, “I’m not sure many folks realize we manage events at the stadium year-round – We’re open for business and here to help!”

Speaking of, the Carytown Farmers Market starts up again on April 25th at City Stadium. It’s open from 9:00-1:00 on Sunday from late April through November. With over 30 vendors and food trucks, it’s a great way to start or finish a stroll through Carytown while you support local vendors.

What’s not to love about a month that basically demands that you come outside and play. I think the Bard summed it up nicely in a sonnet: “April hath put a spirit of youth in everything.”

Or was that Camp Peery? I get those guys confused sometimes.

Enjoy!
