Speaking of ghosts, historic St. John’s is having their annual Fancy Me Mad event October 18th, where you can stroll through the graveyard and meet fascinating spirits telling fascinating stories. It's a nicely unique, highly entertaining evening, and an opportunity to learn about Richmonders buried at St. Johns and how they met their fate. When you are done communing with the spirits, join Edgar Alan Poe in the church for a reading. Located at 2401 East Broad Street from 6:30-9:00. Tickets are $17 for adults, children 6 and under are free.

Speaking of our cheery buddy Edgar, time warp over to the Halloween Unhappy Hour at the Poe Museum on Thursday October 23rd, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Get your malaise on with a classic, and have the worst time of your life listening to The Embalmers as you wander the Enchanted Gardens.

Richmond has a long, turbulent history, and with turbulence comes some good ghost stories. Haunts of Richmond offers a number of highly rated ghost tours scattered around the city. Check out their web site for tour locations and prices. 

Riverfront Canal Cruises offers eerie canal boat tours on Friday the 31st. Drift through the most haunted spots in Richmond on this 20 minute tour featuring haunting tales of Richmond’s past. Boats depart from the canal’s Turning Basin at 139 Virginia Street between 5:00-9:00. Tickets are $6, kids under four are free.

The Branch Museum of Design has a Halloween open house on Thursday October 16th from 6:00-9:00. Wander the halls, check out their current exhibition Confluence, and enter the spirited costume contest if you dare. Enjoy food trucks, drinks, and local vendors on site.
